Hey Kaspians! Welcome to the seventh release of Kaspa Weekly! Today, we'll mention some community projects such as Kaspa Orbital Node Initiative (take a wild guess on who's doing it) and the Kaspa Change-O-Matic. We'll drop you some updates that Kaspador shared about Kasplex's upcoming Layer 2. Finally, we'll tell you about a brand new weekly series by Kastle, Kaspa Mondays. Here's a brief summary of what we'll be covering today
You guessed it, yet again the Kaspa Industrial Initiative is making the headlines in Kaspa Weekly. This time, they've announced the Kaspa Orbital Node Initiative.
The KONI mission aims to deploy a compact Kaspa Node into the Low Earth Orbit, specially designed to draw tiny power and fit in a small form factor. Its goal is to add resilience, geopolitical neutrality and decentralization to Kaspa via network snapshots from the orbit.
The node will orbit around 550 kilometers over earth, and will be launched via a ride share. It will utilize open-source ground networks like SatNOGS to operate and communicate. This will be the first blockDAG node in space.
At the moment, KII is in talks with the launch provider, while working on design in the meantime. The next step will be hardware prototyping. It's estimated to be launched in 2026 and the mission will last around 24 months or more.
Kaspa's insane speed and low transaction fees can be utilized in various ways. Arnon Lauden came up with an idea to create the Kaspa Change-O-Matic.
What is it? This vending-machine-lookalike turns coins into Kaspa! Yep, you heard that right. Insert coins, show a QR code with your Kaspa wallet address and get the equivalent in the so-called digital silver 😎
If you'd like to learn more about this project, and view the first working prototype, check out Arnon's X Post, in which he shared a video of the machine's functionality.
Kaspador recently shared some updates regarding the progress on Kasplex's Layer 2. According to his post, the public testnet is around the corner, and that the mainnet won't take months to launch. The documentation, GitHub and APIs are ready, and a new website is coming for Kasplex next week. The blockchain explorer link will be shared before the public testnet launches.
Looks like some fun times are about to come, thanks for the leak Kaspador 😉
Say hello to Kaspa Mondays! It's a brand new weekly series, written by the folks over at Kastle Wallet. It focuses on explaining Kaspa, its technology and how it works in the simplest way possible. It's most certainly an another good way to expand your knowledge about the revolutionary tech behind Kaspa. They already published two articles. The first one focuses on the general topic of "What is Kaspa?". They explain why Kaspa was created and what problems it solves. The second article breaks down about Kaspa's blockDAG, the GHOSTDAG consensus protocol, and how they benefit the network.
Make sure to add Kaspa Mondays to your weekly reading list alongside Kaspa Weekly 😉
That's it for this week! Thank you for reading and see you next week! 👋
